The Initial Consultation

The first step is understanding the vision for your ring — including style, budget, timeline, diamond preferences, ring size and any personal details you would like incorporated into the design.

But before discussing millimeters, prongs or carat weight, we want to understand something more important: your story.

If you already have a photograph of a ring you love, send it to us. Our team can identify the elements you are drawn to and use them as a starting point for a design personalized to your diamond, proportions, lifestyle and story.

Diamond Selection

After the consultation, the next step is selecting the center diamond. Sphere Diamond specializes in lab grown diamonds, allowing you to compare different shapes, carat sizes and quality combinations while considering both appearance and budget.

An IGI grading report provides important information such as carat weight, color, clarity and cut characteristics, but the certificate is only part of the decision. Two diamonds with similar grades can still look different because of proportions, light performance and outline.

We therefore consider Cut & Light Performance, Shape & Proportion, Color, Clarity and Face-Up Size — and most importantly, how the diamond actually looks to you.

Custom Design & 3D CAD Rendering

Once the center diamond is selected and the design direction is established, we create a precise 3D CAD model of the engagement ring.

CAD allows us to evaluate band width and thickness, setting height, prong placement, gallery construction, hidden halo proportions, accent-stone placement and wedding-band clearance before the ring is physically produced.

This is also where meaningful details can be incorporated — such as engraving, initials, an important date or a discreet design element known only to the wearer.

3D Model & Proportion Review

After CAD approval, a physical 3D model may be created where appropriate for the design. It can provide another perspective on profile, setting height, band proportions and overall scale before the ring is produced in precious metal.

This stage acts as an additional checkpoint for evaluating how the approved digital design translates into three dimensions.

Casting, Craftsmanship & Stone Setting

Once the design is approved, the ring moves into production in your selected precious metal — including 18K white, yellow or rose gold, or platinum.

The piece is refined and prepared for stone setting. The center diamond and any accent stones are set according to the approved design, followed by finishing, polishing and any final engraving or personalized details.

Final Quality Control & Delivery

Before delivery, we review stone security, prong alignment, ring size, setting position, proportions, finishing, symmetry, engraving and personalized details against the approved design.

A custom ring should not simply look beautiful in a photograph. It should be designed and finished for real-world wear.
